On 13 May 2025, the Victorian Government announced the extension of the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program until 2045 a major step to support homes and businesses in accessing energy-efficient upgrades.
What is the VEU?
The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) is a state government program aimed at helping Victorians reduce energy consumption and lower energy bills.
Through rebates and financial incentives, households and businesses can access technologies like heat pumps, energy-efficient air conditioning systems, LED lighting, solar panels and more.
What does the 2045 extension mean?
The program extension brings key long-term benefits:
- Secures the continuity of the program for another 20 years.
- Provides confidence for households and businesses planning to upgrade old systems.
- Encourages greater investment in sustainable technologies.
- New targets will be set for 2026–2030, opening up even more opportunities to save energy and money.
