During October & November, we achieved a huge sustainability milestone!
Across our installations in Victoria and Queensland, we collected:
1,895 VEECs
16,514 STCs
But what do these numbers actually mean and how do they translate into a cleaner Australia? Let’s break it down
1️⃣ What Are VEECs and STCs?
In Australia, clean energy projects are rewarded with environmental certificates that represent verified emissions reductions.
- VEECs (Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates)
Created under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, each VEEC represents 1 tonne of CO₂ saved by improving energy efficiency. For example, by replacing old electric water systems with efficient heat pumps or reverse cycle air conditioners. - STCs (Small-scale Technology Certificates)
These are part of the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, a national initiative that supports the installation of solar panels, heat pumps, and solar water heaters.
Each STC represents 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy generated or energy displaced, equivalent to saving around 0.82 tonnes of CO₂.
In simple terms:
✅ VEECs = Saving energy through efficiency
✅ STCs = Creating clean energy through renewables
2️⃣ Why Is Saving CO₂ So Important?
CO₂ (carbon dioxide) is one of the main greenhouse gases responsible for climate change.
By reducing CO₂ emissions, we help slow down global warming, protect biodiversity, and create a more sustainable future for generations to come.
Every tonne of CO₂ saved means:
🌿 Cleaner air
🌞 Less reliance on fossil fuels
💧 Lower energy costs for families
🏡 A stronger, greener communityscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
3️⃣ Why It Matters for Australia
Australia has committed to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050, and programs like VEU and SRES play a key role in achieving that goal.
By supporting homeowners and businesses to switch to efficient systems like heat pumps, batteries, solar panels, and energy-saving air conditioners, we’re not only reducing emissions but also lowering energy bills and creating jobs in the clean energy sector.
4️⃣ Our October & November Results 🌿
Thanks to the support of our customers and installation partners, Glower helped save an estimated 8,193 tonnes of CO₂ in October & 7,245 tonnes of CO₂ in November.
That’s equivalent to:
🌳 Planting 135,000+ trees
🚗 Taking 1,800 cars off the road for a year
⚡ Powering over 1,000 homes with clean energy
Each installation made through Glower contributes to Australia’s cleaner energy future, one system at a time.
5️⃣ What If You Can’t Upgrade Yet?
We know that not everyone can install a new system right now, and that’s okay.
There are still many small actions that can make a big difference in reducing your carbon footprint while you plan your next energy upgrade. 🌿
Here are some simple ways to contribute:
💡 Be energy smart:
Switch off lights, devices, and chargers when they’re not in use. Use energy-efficient LED bulbs and set your air conditioner a few degrees higher in summer or lower in winter.
🚿 Save hot water:
Use shorter showers and wash clothes with cold water whenever possible. Heating water is one of the biggest sources of household emissions.
🧺 Choose efficient appliances:
When it’s time to replace something, look for energy-efficient models (with a high star rating). They use less electricity and last longer.
🚶♀️ Reduce your transport footprint:
Walk, cycle, or use public transport when possible. Even carpooling once a week helps cut emissions.
🌱 Support sustainability:
Buy from brands that prioritise renewable energy, ethical sourcing, and waste reduction, every purchase is a vote for a cleaner planet.
Even small daily changes can have a big cumulative impact. Together, we can make sustainability a shared effort, whether through energy upgrades or conscious habits at home.
6️⃣ Join the Change 🌞
Every installation counts. Whether it’s upgrading to a heat pump, installing solar panels, or improving your home’s energy efficiency, you’re helping Australia move toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.
